Presently available whistles range from robust multi-chime passenger whistles to the shrill single chime hooter used in freight or yard service. While the G3 passenger and I10 freight whistles are actual Reading Company whistles they are generic enough to represent many North American railroads. The G3 is also very close to the Colorado narrow gauge whistles and the I10 is similar to European Hooters. Also available is a range of Pennsylvania RR three chime passenger whistle (a pleasing mellow whistle) to the hollow sounding Banshee. The SP GS4 passenger service whistle (a full low pitched whistle with a low starting pitch). The NYC and the NKP Berkshire are other melodic sounding whistle with the C&O's full low pitched whistle. |
