Adjustable Regulated "LED" Lighting

Regulated Lighting uses track power to provide illumination beginning at about 3 volts. Maximum illumination is reached at approximately 4.5 volts and remains constant for the balance of the speed range. Regulated Lighting gives a more intense and uniform illumination, uses less current and tends to ignore power interruptions caused by dirt on wheels and track resulting in more flicker free lighting.

Regulated LED Lighting is available in the following configurations:

Item #2379 - Warm White INSTRUCTIONS (PDF file)
Item #2380 - Cool White INSTRUCTIONS (PDF file)

The RL-LED boards are 1/2" x 10" long and contain 4 super bright LED's positioned to create uniform lighting throughoutits length. The RL-LED contains regulated variable intensity adjustment from a minimum brightness to full brightness. The power section is located on one end of the board thus allowing for the LED sections to be broken off and moved from the straight strip thus accommodating various size installations such as cabooses (most will only need 1 LED). The sections can be connected with wires or utilize item #757 connectors. The RL-LED is secured with double sided tape (item 388). The LED's are less than 0.1" in height and have a 120 degree viewing angle thus allowing for illumination in all directions. The typical light output is 18 lumens per LED! They are blinding to the naked eye and really can't be viewed directly - unless you want to see spots before your eyes! The RL-LED board is available in two versions. Item #2379 - Warm White to match a filament bulb for older cars and Item #2380 - Cool White, which is similar to florescent lighting found in modern cars.

Item #2379 'warm white' installed in an "O" gauge MTH passenger car taken in daylight.

Item #2380 'cool white' installed in an "G" gauge AristoCraft caboose taken in daylight.

Item #2380 'cool white' installed in an "HO" scale Athearn passenger cars taken in daylight.

Shown below is just one alternative use for item #2379, use your imagination and highlight your favorite collectibles and display items. The installation shown used four boards,. not only saving a lot of power to illuminate it, but the internal heat generated is non-existent compared to using incandescent light bulbs.
